Ronald has a knack for working with beads

Ronald Dikgari was taught to bead by his mother and he says he carries her legacy through the pieces he creates.

POLOKWANE – Ronald Raphatle Dikgari has mastered the art of using beads to make beautiful handwoven accessories.

Dikgari, founded his beading business, Dironraps Business Enterprise in 2017.

Beading is a skill that he was taught by his mother, Meriam Dikgari and he founded his business on the foundation of her love and support, making use of the skills she taught him to build a legacy.

Dikgari works hard to grow his business and works with the best material there is, however, he shared that he still faces a challenge of people remarking about the price of his products.

This is sometimes a challenge because people undermine the work that goes into working with beads.

He explained that when pricing his work, he takes into account the creativity that goes into making a piece unique.

“It takes a lot of work because I first create a picture in my head. I first design it which in itself takes time. I then have to play around with different ideas to see which ones work,” he said.

He added that sometimes he has to undo and redo work because it doesn’t fit the overall look of the product.

Another thing that factors into pricing is the amount of time that he puts into making the perfect piece.

“It can take me two weeks to create a piece. I only want the best for my clients and if we factor labour laws and how much an hours work is worth, I am giving my clients value for money,” he said.

He added that his clients can have the confidence of knowing that they are buying the best, and he has never received any complaints about the quality of his work.
