Thohoyandou CIT- Suspects linked to syndicate

The case was transferred from Vuwani to the Thohoyandou Magistrate's Court after the state cited security issues.

LIMPOPO – The five accused who were arrested in Thohoyandou days after the police gunned down 19 people at a luxury home in Louis Trichardt on September 1, have been linked to the same syndicate’s cash-in-transit heists.

The case against them was recently postponed to October 13 after they appeared in the Vuwani Magistrate’s Court on October 3 for bail application.

The case was transferred from Vuwani to the Thohoyandou Magistrate’s Court after the state cited security issues.

Asanda Maqhawu (33), Charity Phathutshedzo Makhwedzana (34), Ramabele Justice Peta (47), Vusimuzi Samuel Ramabekae (51), and traditional healer Sillo Shadrack Mposi (48) face charges relating to the possession of suspected stolen vehicles. Makhwedzana was released on bail of R1 500.

The suspects are believed to have been responsible for several cash-in-transit heists in three provinces.
