Water woes: Four of Polokwane’s six reservoirs are at 0%
The Polokwane Municipality has warned of water shortages in the city, which they say is caused by high temperatures.
POLOKWANE – The Polokwane Municipality has reported that four of the city’s six reservoirs are at 0%.
Municipal spokesperson Thipa Selala says the municipality is facing “unprecedented challenges due to persistently high temperatures which has led to significant water shortages in various parts of the municipal area.”
Selala says as of this morning, water levels in all municipal reservoirs have dropped to their lowest, with some even hitting the 0% mark:
o Ext 34 (Ivydale): 0%
o Potgieter: 0%
o 50 Ml Krugersburg: 0%
o 30 Ml Dome: 0%
o 30 Ml Flat: 4%
o Seshego: 10%
“This situation is affecting not just specific areas, but a wide swath of the municipality. While some parts are experiencing reduced water pressure, others, particularly those in upper areas, are experiencing shortages,” his statement read.
Selala said they are appealing to residents to conserve water by using it sparingly, fix leaks promptly and limit outdoor water usage.
“By working together and taking proactive measures, we can mitigate the impact of this water shortage and ensure that everyone in our municipality has access to an adequate water supply,” he concluded.
