Witklip Street collision leaves driver seriously injured

POLOKWANE – The driver of one of the bakkies involved in a collision on Witklip Street in Ladanna this morning was rushed to hospital after reportedly sustaining serious head injuries.
Traffic came to a standstill and had to be diverted after three vehicles, including two bakkies and a taxi were involved in a collision on Witklip Street between Asbes and Vermikuliet Streets.
All passengers of the taxi as well as the driver were taken to the Seshego Hospital for treatment and observation.

Traffic officials on the scene said preliminary investigations fault one bakkie driver who did not yield before entering Witklip Street as well as the taxi, who used an opportunity to pass across the street onto a sub-road.

The Polokwane Municipality advised motorists to drive at a safe following distance to avoid bumper-to-bumper crashes.
The road is now open to motorists following a clean-up operation by emergency services and traffic officials.
