36-hour water shutdown to leave Polokwane’s taps dry

The shutdown is to replace and rehabilitate the Megoring River crossing pipeline that affects both the Ebenezer and Olifantspoort Plants.

POLOKWANE – The Polokwane Municipality is urging residents to make necessary arrangements to mitigate any disruptions ahead of a 36-hour water shutdown next week.

Municipal spokesperson Thipa Selala says a planned shutdown of the Ebenezer Plant by Lepelle Northern Water (LNW) will commence on April 9 at 07:00 and is expected to conclude on April 10.

“LNW says this decision is in response to the critical need to replace and rehabilitate the Megoring River crossing pipeline, a vital component of the Ebenezer and Olifantspoort upgrade project. The replacement and rehabilitation work, which is crucial for the successful completion of the project, is anticipated to take approximately 36 hours to complete,” his statement read.

Selala says the shutdown will affect all areas of supply within the Polokwane Municipality.

“Cooperation and understanding of all affected stakeholders in this matter is greatly appreciated,” his statement concluded.
