TAKE NOTE: R518 to be temporarily closed due to presidential visit

President Cyril Ramaphosa will lead a delegation, including the president of Botswana Mokgweetsi Masisi to the Mmamatlakala bridge following the horror bus crash on March 28.

MOKOPANE – Motorists have been urged to use alternative routes today due to the temporary closure of the R518.

The closure is due to the President Cyril Ramaphosa visiting the site of the horror bus crash that claimed the lives of 45 people on March 28.

Ramaphosa will join the president of the Republic of Botswana Mokgweetsi Masisi and a high delegation of government officials to the site after a closed briefing in Mokopane.

The temporary closure will be in effect from 12:30 to 15:00 this afternoon and motorists can take note of the following alternative routes:

From Lephalale to Mokopane motorists are advised to use the R518 and drive past the Marken filling station. Turn left on to the R516 and turn right on to the N11 to Mokopane next to the Steiloop Shopping Complex.

From Mokopane to Lephalale, motorists are advised to use the N11, turn left on to the R516 next to the Steiloop Shopping Complex and turn right on to the R518 to Lephalale

Alternatively from Mokopane to Lephalale motorists are advised to use the N11 and turn left on to the R518 after the Mahwelereng Shopping Complex. Turn right on to the D192 road which connects to the R518 to Lephalale.
