POLOKWANE – The circumstances surrounding the murder of a middle-aged man outside a tavern in Witklip Street, Ladanna on Saturday morning will form part of an investigation by the Westenburg police.

Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba says the police are seeking positive information that can lead to the arrest of the suspects involved and that a case of murder has been opened.

“The police were summoned to a shooting scene in front of a local tavern in Ladanna at 02:15 on Saturday night. The victim was found lying on the ground with gunshot wounds,” he said.

Ledwaba added that preliminary investigations established that four people were seen driving a white Mercedes-Benz before gunshots were heard.

“The vehicle drove off and the victim was left for dead. Emergency services were called to the scene and the victim was certified dead on arrival,” he said.

The identity of the deceased will be released in due course.

“Anyone with information about the incident should urgently contact the investigating officer Detective Captain Eddie Hlaraka on 082 729 0049, the Crime Stop number on 08600 10111, the nearest police station or via the MySAPS App,” Ledwaba urged.
