Man targeted by armed robbers near Peter Mokaba Stadium

The man was then forced to drive to a lodge in Fauna Park where he was robbed of an undisclosed amount of money, his cellphone and wrist watch.

POLOKWANE – The police in Polokwane have launched a massive manhunt for the suspects responsible for the armed robbery of a male victim near the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium late on Tuesday afternoon.

According to police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, the victim said he was driving his vehicle when suspects driving a white Toyota Fortuner blocked his way and held him at gunpoint.

Some of the suspects then drove with the victim to a lodge in Fauna Park where they instructed him to request money from his family, resulting in his sister depositing an undisclosed amount of money.

“The suspects transferred the money to their cellphone and also robbed the victim of his cellphone and wrist watch before fleeing the scene,” Ledwaba said.

The victim then notified the receptionist at the lodge about the incident and the police were notified.

“A case of robbery with a firearm was opened to trace and arrest the suspects. Anyone with information about the suspects involved should contact investigating officer Constable Precious Masoga on 068 211 3657, the Crime Stop number on 08600 10111, at the nearest police station or via the MySAPSApp.”
