Nirvana swimming pool to reopen end of September
With the hot season approaching, demand for the pool facilities is expected to rise and residents in Nirvana can look forward to the end of September to swim.
POLOKWANE – Residents of Nirvana may have to wait until the end of September to enjoy their community pools, as the Polokwane Municipality continues refurbishing the plant room and pool pipes.
This delay has kept the public pools in Nirvana closed, while three other pools in Polokwane, Westenburg, and Seshego have already reopened for the season.
Mantlako Sebaka, Polokwane Municipality’s sport and recreation manager, confirmed that the Nirvana pool is expected to reopen by the end of September.
“On any day towards the end of the month, the Nirvana pool will be ready,” Sebaka stated.
With the hot season approaching, demand for the pool facilities is expected to rise, however, Sebaka noted that the city’s public pools are currently unavailable for professional swimming galas or events.
“By the end of October, the pools should be ready for such events as work on the heat pumps is still ongoing,” he added.
The refurbishment of the city’s pools, which began in July last year, was initiated after several major provincial swimming events had to be relocated to Tzaneen due to the poor condition of Polokwane’s pools.

Among these events was the Limpopo Schools Swimming Championships, originally scheduled for February 3-4, 2023.
Sebaka also mentioned that additional work will be completed this financial year, including erecting a fence around the town pool to protect it from vandalism.
“We have secured the swimming pool after receiving complaints from the community.
“This was done to ensure the safety of all users,” he concluded.
