Seshego entrepreneur driving toward his dreams
Thabang Yika's determination drives success in the automotive industry, growing from humble beginnings to a thriving business.
POLOKWANE – Thabang Yika, hailing from Seshego, has carved a path in the automotive industry with his venture, Thabang Cars 4U.
Founded on the principles of hard work and passion, Yika’s journey illustrates perseverance and determination in pursuit of his entrepreneurial dreams.
Starting modestly with just two containers, Yika faced scepticism from others who couldn’t see the cars he aimed to sell.
However, through resilience and a vision to do things differently, he expanded his operations. From one car initially, he now boasts a fleet and employs 12 full-time staff, showcasing impressive growth since his beginnings in 2017.
Yika’s decision to establish his own dealership stemmed from a desire to provide fair deals and customer service, principles he felt were best realised through independent ownership. In 2022, he opened his first branch at Seshego Circle Centre, with plans to further expand into Polokwane and eventually other provinces like Gauteng.
His ambition includes not just business growth but also contributing to local economies by creating job opportunities, aiming to employ over 15 people per dealership.
Reflecting on the challenges of entrepreneurship, especially in a township setting, Yika remains undeterred, viewing obstacles as integral to personal and professional growth.
His advice to aspiring entrepreneurs emphasises initiative and self-reliance, encouraging them to start with whatever resources they have and not wait for external support.
As Yika continues to expand his footprint in the automotive industry, his journey inspires others to pursue their entrepreneurial ambitions with determination and resilience.
