Man on bicycle struck and killed by Leeto La Polokwane bus
A man, found with alcohol in his possession, was riding in a designated bus lane when he was struck.
POLOKWANE – A case of culpable homicide has been opened following an incident in which a Leeto La Polokwane (LLP) bus struck and killed an unidentified man on Friday evening.
The incident occurred at approximately 18:30 along Nelson Mandela Road, between Legae La Batho and Madiba Park.
According to police spokesperson Ali Maluleke, the man, believed to be a South African national, was riding a bicycle in the lane designated for LLP buses.
The bus driver was unable to avoid the collision, resulting in the cyclist sustaining fatal head injuries.

. On Monday, Maluleke confirmed that an identification process was underway, with the investigating officer working alongside the Department of Home Affairs to verify the deceased’s identity through fingerprint analysis.
The body is currently at the government mortuary.
Moshita Lekganyane, the chairperson of Esilux, the company responsible for employing the drivers of the Leeto buses, expressed condolences to the family of the deceased. He also urged the public to adhere to road safety rules.
“The driver attempted to avoid the man, but it was too late. We appeal to the public to refrain from using the bus lanes designated for Leeto La Polokwane buses and instead use the pavements for pedestrians and cyclists along Nelson Mandela Drive,” Lekganyane stated.
