Limpopo learner wins National Water and Sanitation Award

Gr 12 learner Nzumbululo Todani's excellence in maths and physical science secured him the top spot in the National Water and Sanitation Education Programme.

LIMPOPO – A Gr 12 learner from Mbilwi Secondary School, has made both his school and the province proud.

Nzumbululo Todani walked away with a bursary, a laptop, and a tablet after winning the National Water and Sanitation Education Programme award.

The ceremony, hosted by the Department of Water and Sanitation, was held on September 26. Todani emerged as the night’s top achiever, surpassing his peers from schools across the country.

In an interview with CV, Todani explained the selection process. Entrants, 54 in total, were selected based on their Gr 11 June exam marks in maths and physical science.

Candidates were assessed both as groups and individually. The group assessment included equilibrium exercises, pitching water conservation ideas, and a 15-minute presentation on water quality or quantity.

The individual assessment involved an exam covering maths, physical science, and general knowledge, along with the Gr 11 June results.

Todani proudly shared, “When all the scores were tallied, I came out on top.”

Mbilwi principal, Nnyambeni Lidzhade, congratulated Todani and praised the teachers or their commitment.

MEC for Education, Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya, joined the province in celebrating Todani’s achievement. She commended the school for its dedication to fostering learners’ talents.

“I am thrilled to see our learners participating in innovative initiatives that contribute to their future and the future of our country,” said Lerule-Ramakhanya.
