Rotary Club in Mokopane reaches out to the elderly

In line with the Rotary's objectives of saying 'no' to hunger, the organisation planted over 2 000 seedlings of spinach and onions.

MOKOPANE – The Rotary Club visited the old age home in Maphagameng recently to bring joy to the elderly.

In line with the Rotary’s objectives of saying ‘no’ to hunger, the organisation planted over 2 000 seedlings of spinach and onions.

“This is part of our club’s project to assist the old age home to generate an income through harvesting and consuming vegetables from their own garden,” said Rotary Club president, Victor Ojionye.

He added that the planting and growing of vegetables is part of their project to fight hunger and starvation among the less privileged residents within the community.

“It’s a project we have mapped out at least once in every quarter.”

The head of the Maphagameng Old Age Home, Mrs Mmakubjana thanked the club for their assistance.

She stated that the gesture will go a long way to alleviate their suffering at the home.

She urged other well-meaning individuals to emulate the club’s efforts and come to their aid as they need help with a lot more projects.
