Taxila RCL hosts annual charity drive
Taxila's charity drive delivers sanitary towels, food, and cosmetics to Mmaphuti Secondary School, empowering young girls' education and self-esteem.
POLOKWANE – Taxila Secondary School’s Representative Council of Learners held their annual charity drive last Tuesday, in collaboration with the Mr and Miss Taxila beauty pageants club.
The event included donations of sanitary towels, cosmetics, and non-perishable food items, which were delivered to Mmaphuti Secondary School in Washbank, Kalkspruit, Ga-Mashashane, an area identified as having a high need for such support.
The RCL, club members, and accompanying teachers personally handed over the items to the learners of Mmaphuti Secondary School.
Reginah Magolo, a teacher and pageant organiser at Taxila, said the initiative aims to uplift the self-esteem and social status of young girls, both at school and at home.
“We want to give girls the opportunity to attend school, participate in sport and fully in school activities without being held back by the inability to afford sanitary products,” said Magolo.
She added that the non-perishable foods would support the learners at school, while the cosmetics were intended to boost their confidence and well-being.
