Polokwane hosts the 16th Sapa Yopa Motorcycle Club rally, uniting 5 000 bikers for a weekend of rides, road safety, and community upliftment.

POLOKWANE – Polokwane is gearing up for the highly anticipated 16th annual Sapa Yopa Motorcycle Club rally, a landmark event that transforms the ‘City of Stars’ into a vibrant hub for bikers and enthusiasts from across South Africa and the SADC region.

The action-packed weekend kicked off on Thursday with a golf day at the Polokwane Golf Club and a gala dinner at Meropa Casino and Entertainment World, welcoming members of various biking teams and guests.

On Friday, Transport MEC Susani Violet Mathye, will lead the Arrive Alive Safety Programme and Campaign, emphasising road safety for all participants.

Saturday’s highlight will be the charity mass ride, as bikers rev their engines and head to the Limpopo Anti-Drugs Gangsterism and Crime Centre in Seshego Zone 3, showcasing their commitment to community upliftment. The weekend concludes on Sunday with a farewell gathering at Cofi Polokwane for local and international bikers.

This year marks a historic moment as the Premier, Dr Phophi Ramathuba becomes the first provincial leader to address the rally, also participating in the golf day’s first tee-off. The MEC will deliver the opening address at the gala dinner.

Sapa Yopa MCC president, Antonio Pico Santana Martins, announced that over 5 000 bikers have confirmed attendance. “Sapa Yopa is a symbol of cultural diversity and unity, making it one of South Africa’s premier bike rallies. This weekend promises fun-filled activities for bikers and enthusiasts alike, bringing together people from all walks of life,” he said.
