LTT village welcomes home renowned fashion designer
Tshavhalovhedzi village celebrates fashion designer Mukhethwa Mukhesi's She Millionaire Award win.
LIMPOPO – Tshavhalovhedzi village, located outside Louis Trichardt, recently hosted a heartfelt homecoming parade for renowned fashion designer and philanthropist Mukhethwa Mukhesi, also known as Madam Mukhethwa.
The event celebrated her achievement of receiving the prestigious She Millionaire Award at the 2024 Limpopo 3rd Africa’s Women Wealth Builders Awards, honouring her dedication and talent in the fashion industry.
In her homecoming speech, Mukhethwa dedicated the award to the people of Tshavhalovhedzi, thanking them for their unwavering support throughout her journey. “This award belongs to the community,” she said.
Mukhethwa’s journey from a young girl experimenting with fabrics to a celebrated designer and philanthropist is an inspiring tale of perseverance. Growing up, she would often sneak to her mother’s sewing machine, experimenting with fabric. Initially seen as mischief by her mother, this soon became a sign of Mukhethwa’s talent, with her mother becoming one of her strongest supporters.
Beyond her success in fashion, Mukhethwa is deeply committed to her community, providing school uniforms, stationery, shoes, and even elegant matric dance dresses to learners in need. Speakers at the event described her as a humble and compassionate person who is always ready to uplift others. Her story is a testament to the power of dreams, hard work, and the support of a strong community.
