Another water shutdown to affect Polokwane’s supply
An 18-hour shutdown will affect Bendor, the CBD, Fauna and Flora Park as well as other areas as the Polokwane Municipality conducts essential maintenance on the Dap Naude line.
POLOKWANE – Residents in Polokwane should gear up and prepare for yet another water shutdown that’s going to affect supply.
According to the Polokwane Municipality, a scheduled shutdown of the Dap Naude pipeline will be conducted on Wednesday (December 11) for essential maintenance to be carried out as well as to address identified leaks.
“This shutdown will affect water supply to Bendor, the Central Business District, Fauna Park, Flora Park, Serala View, Sterpark and Moregloed. It will last 18-hours from 00:00 to 18:00,” municipal spokesperson Thipa Selala said.
He added that water tankers will provide temporary relief to mitigate inconvenience to affected areas as a temporary relief measure.
“Normal water supply will resume as soon as repairs are completed and the system is fully operational,” Selala said.
This shutdown follows a 48-hour shutdown last week which led to more water woes in the city as Lepelle Northern Water replaced the Specon pipeline.
The after effects of the shutdown were felt into the weekend as residents reported low supply to their taps.
Selala said residents should contact the Polokwane Municipality call center on 015 290 2000; the dedicated Water and Sanitation Helpline on 015 290 2376 or send a WhatsApp to 068 290 8736 for any issues.
