Polokwane pensioners prove life begins after retirement

The Polokwane Pensioners Association inspires vibrant living through education, travel and community service, proving life begins after retirement.

POLOKWANE – The Polokwane Pensioners Association (PPA) has had a remarkable year, demonstrating that life after retirement can be vibrant and fulfilling.

Known for its progressive approach, the PPA arranges annual educational workshops on various topics, inspiring its members to stay informed and engaged.

One of the highlights this year was an awareness event held at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Ster Park.

The event featured discussions on the challenges faced by surviving spouses as estate executors and the importance of wills, presented by Kagiso Tladi from PMK Tladi and Associates.

Clinical psychologist Dr Sewela Ramaboea shared valuable insights on dementia, fostering awareness about this critical health topic.

Beyond education, the PPA has embraced adventure, taking members on memorable trips. In October, they experienced the luxury of the Blue Train on a journey from Pretoria to Cape Town and explored the majestic Victoria Falls later that month.

These travels highlight their commitment to enjoying life to the fullest, a sentiment echoed by PPA member Mokgatjana Mathsa. “Let’s not limit ourselves or blame age when it comes to having a good life. Take trips, visit new places, and enjoy time with family and friends.”

In July, the association gave back to the community with a heartwarming Mandela Day initiative, bringing joy to the Association of Persons with Disability Limpopo at the APD Hall.

Alongside their charitable efforts, members remain active by participating in senior-friendly sports activities, ensuring their physical well-being.

The year concludes with a lavish gala dinner, providing a chance to unwind and celebrate their collective achievements.
