Child-friendly activities to reduce screen time and lazing

Whether it's ten-pin bowling at the mall or being outdoors at the Polokwane Game Reserve, we've got you covered!

POLOKWANE – Careful your child is not stuck on screen time throughout the festive season!

Curate child-friendly activities to keep them entertained in order to reduce their television and phone-use consumption because the digital divide is detrimental.

Here is a list of fun activities to try in Polokwane with the kids.

Tenpin bowling action!

Both malls in Polokwane offer tenpin bowling which can make for a fun afternoon out for the entire family!

If you are not necessarily on a tight budget, you can invite children to a bowling session for some friendly competition or other gaming activities that are stimulating to their brains.

These shopping centres also offer an array of restaurants to stop at before making your way home.

Venture outdoors!

The city is rich with wild animal sites, that are regulated and safe.

The family fun zone at the Meropa Casino and Entertainment World has snakes and birds among other unique creatures to see and learn about at affordable prices.

You can also take a shot’left to the Snake Park or the Polokwane Nature Reserve where there are giraffes, zebras, impalas and more than a dozen more mammal species.

Swimming

Summer is in full swing and if a pool is in your backyard, great!

Set the poolside with snacks and items that suit a summary festive mood for the children to swim under strict parental guidance.

If not, the city pools in Burger Street and Nirvana have been prepared and are ready to welcome you.

Pack sizable snacks, swimming costumes for the children and sufficient sunscreen.

Bargain on educational toys

Invest in Lego building blocks, a kicking ball, a hula-hoop or any other play-time item.

Toys like this help strengthen focus in children and because schools are closed, they can keep busy or even learn a new skill.
