A look back and ahead, reflecting on New Year resolutions

As the year ends, reflecting on resolutions helps celebrate successes, identify growth areas, and renew focus on unfulfilled goals.

POLOKWANE – As the year draws to a close, many people take time to reflect on the resolutions they set at the start of the year. This period of reflection allows people to revisit their goals, evaluate their progress, and renew their efforts to achieve unfulfilled aspirations.

Donald Maleka said that early this year he made three resolutions. “One of the resolutions that I made was to get a job, pass all my modules with distinction and get myself an iPhone. “So far I managed to get a job two months on the line after making these resolutions and after four months I was able to buy myself an iPhone that I always wanted and it’s all thanks to God, now I’m financially stable,” he said.

While Maleka celebrated these achievements, he acknowledged one goal he has yet to fully accomplish: passing all his modules with distinction. “I have ten modules and out of them I only managed to get seven distinctions and I believe that for me to achieve this, I need to study hard and prioritise my studies because studying and working at the same time is very difficult sometimes,” remarked Maleka.

Reflecting on resolutions can move people towards personal growth by encouraging self-awareness, intentional goal-setting, and a sense of accountability. Taking time to evaluate progress helps individuals identify areas for improvement, celebrate successes, and adjust their plans for the future.

Achieving resolutions, no matter how small, is a significant milestone. It’s not just about the accomplishments but also about learning from setbacks and continuing to strive for success.
