Event planner crafting events and dining experiences

Kamogelo Manaka, founder of Cuerno Amiente, blends creativity and precision to deliver unforgettable events and dining experiences.

POLOKWANE – Kamogelo Manaka, a 27-year-old entrepreneur who founded the Cuerno Amiente which simply means Manaka Ambience, a company that specialises in event planning, coordination and private chef services.

Manaka’s journey began in high school when she started making her own school lunches by saving money to experiment with different themes on Sundays such as organising small family, friends and church events.

She furthered her studies in the East Rand and was introduced to event management and instantly loved it.

“There is something magical about bringing an idea to life, where food, ambience and meticulous planning come together to create unforgettable moments,” she said.

Manaka said that the event industry is exhilarating but demanding and it’s not for the faint-hearted, from managing last-minute changes to exceeding high client expectations.

“The most rewarding part of being an event organiser is seeing a client’s reaction when their vision comes to life, especially when the results exceed their expectations, it keeps me motivated to continue and never give up.”

Manaka said that some of the best memorable events she organised was the Gender-based violence and Femicide Awareness at Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) where she collaborated with the Department of Sports, Arts and Culture and also the Women Health Talk at TUT, the Loving Us Back into Society at SANCA Limpopo and lastly the Braai-off for Disability Students at TUT.

She also noted that planning events during holiday season is all about understanding the client’s vision.

“The festive season offers an opportunity to create magical and joyful moments as everyone is in the mood to celebrate, whether it’s a wedding, gathering or corporate function , I make sure that I communicate with my clients ensuring that their vision is realised without any stress because it can be very hectic during that time,” said Manaka.

Manaka also offers a private chef service through Cuerno Amiente as she strives to make each dining experience as memorable as she plans events.

“I design custom menus that reflect to the occasion and the client’s preferences, every dish I create is carefully crafted using fresh and high-quality ingredients.”

Manaka’s advice to those who would like to follow her foot steps is: “Never give up and stay strong, the event industry is full of challenges but with dedication, hard work and a positive attitude you will grow. Success takes time-there is no overnight success.”
