Polokwane’s Papa Mouse teaches safety awareness

Temoso Thomas Setati visits Polokwane pre-schools to educate children on road safety and personal care, using entertaining puppet shows.

POLOKWANE – Temoso Thomas Setati, affectionately known as ‘Papa Mouse’ and ‘Uncle Albert,’ takes great joy in making little ones happy.

Setati visits many pre-schools in the city to teach young learners about road safety and personal care.

“I believe it is very important to teach children about safety on the roads, as they can share this knowledge with their parents and siblings,” Setati says.

It is especially vital for children to understand safety during busy times, such as festive seasons. Setati told the Polokwane Review-Observer that a child’s safety is crucial, and parents should consistently check on their children.

He also says that he uses puppet shows to convey these messages because children love them, and he hopes this method will help them remember what the puppet teaches.

Setati’s school visits are a blend of education and entertainment, making learning an enjoyable experience for the children.

“It is always rewarding to see children’s reactions when they meet Papa Mouse. Their interactions with him are satisfying, even though some are scared and don’t want to approach him,” he remarks.
