Limpopo hits new high with 85.01% matric pass rate

Limpopo's 2024 pass rate surpassed 80% for the first time, a feat credited by its Education MEC to dedicated principals and teachers across the province.

POLOKWANE – The Limpopo Education MEC Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya has announced a National Senior Certificate pass rate of 85,01% for the province.

This is an increase of 5.5% in 2023.

Lerule-Ramakhanya made the announcement at a ceremony currently underway at the Ranch Resort outside Polokwane.

“Three years ago, I stood before you in this very same venue and declared that we are a province on the rise. The declaration was made when the province’s performance was not at the expected level and we were at the tail-end nationally. I believed in the caliber of senior managers in the office, our district directors, circuit managers and educators that together we were going to turn things around and be on the rise. We have risen, we are a province on the rise,” she said.

Limpopo’s pass rate for 2024 is the first time the province has performed over 80% since the dawn of democracy, a feat Lerule-Ramakhanya said is only possible thanks to principals and teachers who kept their eyes on the ball.

“The class of 2024 made history by pushing boundaries and delivered on their promise,” she added.
