Polokwane dietitian shares top tips for a healthier lifestyle in 2025

Changes like healthy eating and regular physical activity can help manage weight, boost energy levels, and improve overall health.

POLOKWANE – Polokwane-based dietitian Olga Nchabe, owner of BO Dietitians, emphasises the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle to enhance overall well-being. Speaking to Polokwane Observer, she shared expert insights on how healthier habits can lead to significant improvements in physical and mental health.

Nchabe, a highly qualified dietitian with extensive experience across various nutritional fields, is committed to empowering individuals and families with evidence-based dietary advice.

“At BO Dietitians, we specialise in personalised nutrition strategies to help clients achieve optimal health and well-being,” she said.

With the new year underway, Nchabe encourages adopting healthier habits to prevent serious conditions such as obesity and diabetes.

“Changes like healthy eating and regular physical activity can help manage weight, boost energy levels, and improve overall health. Over time, these habits can become part of your daily routine,” she explained.

She highlighted that feeling good about oneself and caring for one’s health are crucial for self-esteem and self-image. “Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is about doing what is right for your body,” Nchabe added.

Tips for a Balanced Diet

Nchabe advises incorporating the following into your daily meals:

  • Eat at least five portions of a variety of fruits and vegetables each day.
  • Base meals on high-fibre starchy foods such as potatoes, bread, rice, or pasta.
  • Include dairy or dairy alternatives, such as soya drinks.
  • Consume protein-rich foods like beans, pulses, fish, eggs, and lean meats.

Benefits of Healthy Eating

Nchabe lists five key benefits of healthy eating:

  1. Saving money, as cooking at home is often cheaper than takeaways or fast food.
  2. Improved sleep quality.
  3. A better mood and increased social interaction during the day.
  4. Higher energy levels.
  5. Enhanced skin, hair, and nail health.
