Limpopo police sergeant’s alleged murderer apprehended
Limpopo police arrest 43-year-old suspect after the murder of Sergeant Leah Malebye, but motive remains unclear.
LIMPOPO – Provincial police commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has commended the efforts of the police in tracking and apprehending the suspect involved in the murder of
Sergeant Leah Mosalofi Malebye, 47, from the Rooiberg police station in the Waterberg District.
Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba says that the suspect, a 43-year-old man, handed himself over to the authorities in Klipgat, North West Province, earlier this morning (January 30) following a determined investigation by the police.
“While the motive for the murder remains unclear, domestic violence has not been ruled out as a potential factor in the case,” says Ledwaba.

Hadebe has expressed satisfaction with the action taken by police, stating, “I am delighted that within days of the senseless killing of our officer, the police moved swiftly and managed to arrest this callous criminal. I am confident that the investigation team will present a watertight case before the court of law to ensure that the suspect receives a harsher sentence for his senseless act.”
Details of the memorial and funeral service for the late Sergeant Malebye will be communicated in due time.
