Murdered woman found hidden under ceiling boards outside Mokopane

The Mokopane police are probing the brutal killing of a woman found along the R101, with appeals for the public to help identify her.

MOKOPANE – The Mokopane police have launched an investigation after the body of an unidentified woman was found on the R101, near Weenen High School on Saturday (August 24).

The Limpopo police report that the woman’s body was hidden under ceiling boards and plastic material beneath a tree and that she has sustained deep wounds across her body.

The Limpopo police spokesperson Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba said the victim is an African woman, light in complexion, estimated to be around 40-years-old.

“The victim was wearing a powder-blue dress and matching takkies at the time of her discovery. She also had a flower tattoo on her right ankle and was wearing hair extensions. No identification was found on her,” his statement read.

Mashaba said they are appealing to the public for assistance in identifying the victim and tracing her next of kin, as well as any information that could lead to the arrest of those responsible.

The provincial police commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, strongly condemned the killing and assured the public that those responsible will be brought to justice.
