A security officer was held at gunpoint and forced to the ground before being disarmed.

Kganaygo says four cellphones in total were stolen from nurses, along with the security officer’s firearm.
“Security personnel managed to alert armed response patrols and the South African Police Service, who are now investigating the matter,” his statement reads.
Mashego described the attack as “alarming” and a direct threat to the delivery of essential health services.
“Attacks on healthcare workers not only put lives at risk but also severely impact our ability to deliver uninterrupted care to the community,” she said.
She further appealed to communities to remain vigilant and protect healthcare workers, who serve residents around the clock.
