Former ANC MP Boy Mamabolo has resigned from the party after 29 years, citing what he calls an attempt to make him a "failed politician."
POLOKWANE – The former ANC Member of Parliament, Boy Mamabolo, has resigned from the party, citing what he calls a campaign by members to make him a “failed politician.”
Mamabolo, a well-known figure in Limpopo politics, announced his departure by email on Monday evening, notifying the ANC’s provincial secretary, Reuben Madadzhe.

The email, seen by the Polokwane Observer, was also copied to the party’s secretary-general, Fikile Mbalula, and Mamabolo’s former branch secretary in Seshego.
In his emotional message, Mamabolo stated he had made a “very difficult and emotional decision” to end his 29-year membership.
He detailed his long history with the party, which began with his involvement in the Congress of South African Students (COSAS) at the age of 13.
Mamabolo listed several reasons for his resignation, including what he described as his “unlawful removal from Parliament” and a legal bill of over R300 000 incurred as a result.
He also claimed the party had blocked his attempt to establish a new political party called “Mandela For President (MFP).”
“I therefore cannot tolerate this abuse anymore and I want OUT,” Mamabolo wrote, concluding with a quote from former President Jacob Zuma: “We will meet somewhere.”
