Emergency repairs cut power to several Polokwane suburbs

Suburbs including Bendor, Thornhill, Sterpark and Mall of the North are without power due to urgent repairs at the Delta Substation with no restoration time confirmed.

POLOKWANE – The Polokwane Municipality has switched off electricity supply from the Delta and Iota Substations to allow for urgent repairs on the 66kV busbar at the Delta Substation.

Several suburbs in the city have been affected since the early hours of this morning.

The Municipal spokesperson Thipa Selala said the emergency intervention was necessary to protect the integrity of the electricity network and ensure long-term supply stability.

As a result, the following areas are currently without power:

  • Coca-Cola
  • SAB
  • Bendor
  • Sterpark
  • Mall of the North
  • Savannah Mall
  • Northview
  • Celtic
  • Woodhill and surrounds
  • Thornhill
  • Industria Park.

“Municipal technical teams are on-site working to complete the repairs, However, the estimated time for restoration has not yet been confirmed. We appeal for patience and cooperation during this critical maintenance intervention,” Selala said.
