Limpopo police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba says the suspects were tracked down and apprehended at various locations across the city during the early hours of Thursday morning (September 11).

“The arrests followed an intensive investigation by Polokwane detectives, who acted on credible information provided by community members.”

Provincial police commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe praised the public for their cooperation, saying the arrests highlighted the power of strong community-police partnerships.

“This breakthrough demonstrates the importance of strong partnerships between the police and communities. While mob justice incidents remain a serious concern in the province, this case proves that by working together within the law, we can ensure that perpetrators are brought before court rather than allowing lawlessness to prevail,” Hadebe said.

The five suspects are expected to appear in the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
