Polokwane man killed in suspected mob attack

Police are investigating a mob justice killing at Boom and Rissik Streets, while urging the public to help trace those responsible.

POLOKWANE – Police have launched an investigation into a murder following the death of a man, believed to be in his early 30s, after a suspected mob attack at the corner of Boom and Rissik Streets on Tuesday evening (September 9).

The victim was found critically injured and rushed to hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries earlier today (September 10). The identity of the assailants is unknown, and the motive is still under investigation.

Provincial police commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, strongly condemned the ongoing incidents of mob justice across the province, warning that those responsible will be tracked down and prosecuted.

Police have appealed to the public for assistance. Anyone with information that could help identify the deceased or trace the assailants is urged to contact the investigating officer, Sergeant Tebogo Mabula, on 078 488 3435, call Crime Stop on 08600 10111, or use the MySAPS App.
