Water supply disruption in Polokwane continues

Polokwane faces ongoing water disruptions as pumping issues halt supply from the Olifantspoort line. Tankers deployed while repairs continue.

POLOKWANE – Polokwane Municipality has confirmed that water supply from the Olifantspoort line remains interrupted due to ongoing pumping challenges experienced by bulk water supplier Lepelle Northern Water (LNW).

Municipal spokesperson Thipa Selala says LNW has assured the municipality that efforts are underway to restore water flow as soon as possible.

This latest disruption comes as many residents and businesses are still recovering from a planned shutdown earlier this week, which left parts of the city without water since Wednesday.

“Polokwane Municipality has also noted that LNW has scheduled another 48-hour shutdown for 17 September 2025, but says it is in talks with the water board to postpone it, given the severe impact of the current outage on the municipal water system.”

In the meantime, water tankers are being deployed to affected areas to provide relief until supply is restored.
