Activist and author Noma Mthombeni releases powerful divorce memoir

Activist and author Noma Mthombeni’s new book inspires healing, showing how women can overcome pain and restore peace after divorce.

POLOKWANE – Local activist and author Noma Mthombeni launched her new book titled; Screams From My Marriage, to promote peace.

Her motivation behind her latest novel was to add her voice to the ongoing nationwide activism campaign to end violence against women and children across the world. The mother of two, who also experienced divorce herself, is a part-time lecturer within the Independent Institute of Education (IIE).

“I wanted to dedicate my story to my daughters because sometimes when one goes through a divorce, it’s not easy to express yourself to the people around you, so I penned it instead. After I put the manuscript together, my team and I thought we needed something different and catchy for a title.”

She added that the first title was ‘Single Again,’ which she explained was used so many times before. “I’m glad to have settled on Screams From My Marriage. It has that ‘kick’ to it.”

Mthombeni’s story is raw and honest with a redemptive value as she shares her personal journey of falling in love and getting married as a teenager.

Local activist and author Noma Mthombeni launches her new book titled; Screams From My Marriage.

She shares her joys of getting married, followed by being hurt, abused, shunned, ridiculed and shamed, which led to her divorce.

“In this book I proudly share my journey through divorce as a Christian woman. I talk about my feelings, thoughts and other struggles I encountered as a result of a failed marriage. I also explain how I managed to overcome the battles and thrived to reach a place of healing and restoration,” she said.

Her wish and prayer is that when people read this book, they move out of a place of anger and bitterness to a place of peace.

“I want to show my readers that grief too can be overcome as traumatic as divorce is. The loss of a loved one through divorce carries a lot of pain for a lot of people like relatives and children too.”

In her book, Mthombeni highlights that children should never be involved in the parents’ fights nor should they be used as weapons of manipulation by a parent.

“I’m passionate about women’s issues, especially those that pertain to the healing and restoration from divorce and other painful experiences.”

The book also includes courier services upon ordering, nationwide. For info contact Noma on 072 678 2358 or via Facebook (Nomathamsanqa Mthombeni) or Instagram (NomaMthombeni).

Anne Mametja

My name is Anne Mametja. I am a mom of four and an identical twin. With a passion for media, I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Media and Television Production in 2012 and due to my love for children, I also hold a certificate in Nursing Auxiliary. As media is my first love, I started working at the Polokwane Review as a journalist in 2017 and it has been amazing thus far. I love journalism because I can be a voice to the community through my work. Journalism allows me to meet different people at the events I attend. Although there are certain beats that journalists stick to, being an all-rounder means I write community, schools, sports, hard, lifestyle and entertainment news. It also allows me to be versatile in the newsroom and assist where I can. ‘Journalism can never be silent, that is its greatest virtue and its greatest fault.’
