Limpopo police intercept truck with R2m in dagga and codeine
Two foreign nationals were arrested in Thabazimbi after police intercepted a truck carrying R2m worth of dagga and prescription medicines.
POLOKWANE – Two foreign nationals have appeared in the Thabazimbi Magistrate’s Court on charges of possession of dagga and contravening the Medicine and Related Substances Act (previously Drugs Control Act) 101 of 1965.
Cuthbert Derera (30) and Wishborn Fufa (39) had their case postponed to September 22 for a formal bail application.

The duo were arrested on Saturday (September 13) after a tip-off led police to a truck transporting a large quantity of illicit substances.
The Limpopo police spokesperson Col Malesela Ledwaba said a joint team from Northam SAPS, Thabazimbi SAPS, and Zimbi Security successfully stopped the truck on the R510 road to Lephalale.

“During a search, officers found 40 bales of dagga with a street value of R1.5m and assorted bottles of Benylin with codeineand Astra pain relievers, valued at R500 000. The total value of the seized goods is estimated to be R2m,” his statement read.

Derera and Fufa were unable to account for the origin of the items, which were believed to be destined for the Groblersbrug Border outside the Waterberg District.
The provincial police commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, commended the officers for their diligence and determination in intercepting the smugglers.
“Police investigations continue,” Ledwaba said.
