Caretaker found murdered in Polokwane house robbery

A house robbery in Polokwane left a 56-year-old caretaker dead, with police urging the public to share information.

POLOKWANE – Acting provincial police commissioner, Major General Jan Scheepers, has activated a multi-disciplinary team to track down those involved in a house robbery and murder of a 56-year-old caretaker in a Polokwane residential area.

The discovery was made earlier today (Wednesday, September 24).

Police spokesperson Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba  says that preliminary reports suggest the victim was last seen by a co-worker on Friday afternoon (September 19).

“Today, at around 11:00, the landlord arrived at the property and noticed the gate slightly open. Upon entering, he found the main door wide open and the house in disarray. Inside, he discovered the caretaker lying in a pool of blood. The victim had been tied up and stabbed,” says Mashaba.

Police and paramedics were immediately called to the scene, where the man was certified dead.

At this stage, the killer or killers remain unknown, and investigations are ongoing.

Police have appealed to anyone with information to contact Detective Warrant Officer Joseph Malebane on 072 492 9635, call the Crime Stop number 08600 10111, or use the MySAPS App.
