Rapper Shebeshxt under investigation for alleged attempted murder
The Westenburg police are investigating Limpopo rapper Shebeshxt in connection with an attempted murder case following an alleged road rage incident.
POLOKWANE – Controversial Limpopo rapper Shebeshxt has been named as a person of interest in an attempted murder case currently under investigation by the Westenburg police.
The Limpopo police spokesperson Col Malesela Ledwaba told the Polokwane Review-Observer that the investigation stems from an incident that occurred on October 19 in Polokwane.
According to unconfirmed reports, the rapper, whose real name is Lehlogonolo Katlego Chauke, allegedly opened fire on a man following a road rage altercation last Sunday.
The Sunday World, which first reported the story, claimed that Shebeshxt allegedly shot a motorist in the solar plexus during an argument and that the victim remains in critical condition at a Polokwane hospital.
“The case has since been taken over by the Murder and Robbery Unit following instructions from the provincial police commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe. The team has been directed to investigate with a view to arrest, not the other way around,” Ledwaba said.
He added that the investigation has intensified, with detectives tightening loose ends, and that an arrest is considered “imminent”.
While details surrounding the incident remain limited, police have urged the public to give investigators space to complete their work.
They have not released further information on the victim or motive, pending the outcome of ongoing investigations.
Shebeshxt, known for his bold persona and frequent brushes with controversy, made headlines last year when his nine-year-old daughter, Onthatile, died in a car crash that left him with serious injuries, including internal bleeding and multiple fractures.
