POLOKWANE – Polokwane Executive Mayor Makoro John Mpe visited Lekompo artist and producer Babethe Gashoazen at Mediclinic Polokwane on Thursday following a crash in the Fetakgomo Tubatse area that left one person dead and another injured.

According to information shared by the municipality, the crash happened over the weekend after the artist and his crew allegedly stopped on the side of the road to allow one of the passengers to get out of the vehicle. It is alleged another vehicle then collided with them from behind.

One crew member died in the incident, while two others, including Gashoazen, sustained injuries.

Mpe visited the musician in hospital after reportedly assisting with arrangements for his admission. During the visit, the mayor offered condolences to the family of the deceased and wished those injured a speedy recovery.

Gashoazen was discharged from hospital on Thursday following observation and medical treatment.

The municipality said the mayor is also expected to visit other affected families as part of ongoing support efforts.

The City of Polokwane expressed condolences to the local music community, describing the incident as a significant loss for Limpopo’s creative sector.
