Young Polokwane fans rally behind Bafana Bafana
Sterpark Academy learners wore their Bafana Bafana shirts to show support for the national team and build excitement around the World Cup.
POLOKWANE – As the Fifa Club World Cup got underway last week, learners at Sterpark Academy and Wonderland Crèche showed that their support for South Africa’s national soccer team extends beyond the stadium, bringing the spirit of soccer and African unity into the classroom.
Learners proudly wear Bafana Bafana colours
Learners proudly wore Bafana Bafana T-shirts on Thursday to show their support for the national team.
According to assistant teacher Joane Kara, the initiative was aimed at building excitement around the tournament while promoting national pride, unity and school spirit among learners.
Kara said learners were encouraged to wear Bafana Bafana T-shirts to support the team and create enthusiasm around the upcoming matches.
“It is a fun way to promote national pride, unity and school spirit,” she said.
Overwhelmingly positive response
The response from learners was overwhelmingly positive, with many eagerly discussing the team and their favourite players with classmates.
Kara added that while the June examination period can be stressful for learners, initiatives such as these help boost morale and provide a healthy balance while allowing them to remain focused on their academic responsibilities.
‘Good luck to all the players’
Grade 3 learner Mihandzu Maluleke shared his hopes for the team’s performance.
“I hope Bafana Bafana wins their games. I would like to see the team defend well and score lots of goals. Good luck to all the players,” he said.
