Taxila rides into history books at Sanesa event
Maseeha Majid particpated in the Sanesa Limpopo Eventing Qualifiers and ended second in her level and age category.

POLOKWANE – Maseeha Majid (15) who trains with For The Horse, is the first learner from Taxila Secondary School to compete at the South African National Equestrian Schools Association (Sanesa) Limpopo Eventing Qualifiers.
The event took place at The Ranch Resort Equestrian Centre on February 9 and 10 where Majid ended second in her level and age category.
“It feels so good that I was able to represent my school and club in this competition. I believe that riding a horse provides a thrilling rush of adrenaline like no other sport. Sitting on a horse and feeling its power as it goes into a full gallop, is exciting and exhilarating. I enjoyed myself and also made new friends,” Majid said.
Taxila principal Tlou Ramara was also present at the event to support Majid throughout the competition.
“We are indeed proud of her, as she represented the school well and we hope to see more learners taking part in different sporting codes other than what the school offers, but still being associated with us. Well done, Majid.”
Organiser of Sanesa events Retha van der Merwe said the event was exclusively designed for learners who represent their schools.
“One of the organisation’s most exciting features is that riders don’t need to affiliate with any other equestrian association or club to partake in their events. The stage is open to anyone fueled by the passion for equestrian competitions.” She added that the show was a huge success and the attendance was outstanding.
Various riders from Limpopo schools were also part of the competition in different age categories, and this year, lots of younger kids at the ages of five and six years also took part.
The next Sanesa Limpopo qualifiers will take place on April 26 and 27, May 24 and 25 as well as June 14 and 15 at The Ranch Resort Equestrian Centre. The Ranch will also host their own qualifiers on May 18 and 19.
