New gymnastics team from Flora Park High shines at nationals
The newly formed Diva Squad from Flora Park Comprehensive High wowed judges at the Sasaff nationals, with solo and group victories.
POLOKWANE – Flora Park Comprehensive High School’s first aero gymnastics team raised the school’s flag high when they won the South African Sport Aerobics, Fitness & Hip Hop Federation (Sasaff) national competition which took place in Cape Town on June 27-28.
The team of Gr 9 learners, who call themselves the Diva Squad, was formed earlier this year and was able to compete with the support of both the school board and parents who contributed towards the fundraising.
Tshepang Sekele, a gymnast who established the group, competed in the solo category where she obtained position three.
“It was really scary knowing the pressure was all on me as an individual, which made me anxious, but it was better than last time because I was able to control my anxiety and perform my choreography with barely any mistakes,” she said.
Principal Ntsiene Joseph Masekela congratulated the learners and said the school is very proud of the learners.
