Laerskool Ivypark celebrates 75 years with birthday celebration

Ivypark learners formed a giant ‘75’ with balloons as the school marked its 75th anniversary, joined by staff, parents and former principal Willem Opperman.

POLOKWANE – Laerskool Ivypark marked its 75th birthday on Friday with a celebration that brought together learners, teachers, parents and former staff.

On the field, learners formed the number 75 while waving yellow, red and black balloons, representing the school colours.

Acting principal Annette Grobbelaar, along with the school mascot ‘Stinger’, joined the learners despite the rainy weather.

A drone captured the striking formation from above, creating a memorable visual of the milestone celebration.

Parents were invited to join the fun, while learners enjoyed jumping castles and outdoor activities on the field.

A large vanilla, chocolate, and red velvet cake took centre stage, with teachers serving each learner a piece.

The event was further honoured by the presence of former principal Willem Opperman, who was invited by School Governing Body chairperson, Caroline Thema.
