ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT PROCESS PUBLIC PARTICIPATION FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF A SHOPPING CENTRE ON PART OF FARM ZAMENLOOP 188-KS, POLOKWANE LOCAL MUNICIPALITY, CAPRICORN DISTRICT MUNICIPALITY, LIMPOPO PROVINCE Notice is hereby given in terms of Regulation 41 (2) (c) (i) of GNR 982 of December 2014, as promulgated in the National Environmental Management Act, 1998 (Act 107, 1998) and amended on 7 April 2017, of the intent to apply for Environmental Authorisation (EA) for the above-mentioned project from the Limpopo Department Of Economic Development, Environment And Tourism, subject to the undertaking of a Basic Assessment Report. One A Trust (T1429/1910PTA) proposes the establishment of a neighbourhood shopping centre development on the above-mentioned property, in the village of Sejweng, located approximately 7km from Laaste Hoop and 41km southeast of Polokwane. The proposed project triggers various activities of Listing Notice 1 of 8 December 2014, as amended 7 April 2017 by GNR 327. THE FOLLOWING LISTED ACTIVITIES ARE TRIGGERED BY THE PROPOSED PROJECT: Activity 27 of Listing Notice 1 (GNR 327 of 2017)
The clearance of an area of 1 ha or more, but less than 20 ha of indigenous vegetation. The development will exceed 1ha of vegetation clearing, consisting of both indigenous and non-indigenous vegetation. Activity 28 of Listing Notice 1 (GNR 327 of 2017)
Residential, mixed, retail, commercial, industrial or institutional developments where such land was used for agriculture, game farming, equestrian purposes or afforestation on or after 01 April 1998 and where such development: (ii) will occur outside an urban area, where the total land to be developed is bigger than 1 hectare. The size of the site is 8.31 ha and located outside the urban edge of rural Sejweng Village. The site is currently zoned as Agricultural with a rezoning application to Business 3 in process.
