Polokwane City Football Club will be looking for their first victory of the New Year when they face SuperSport United at the old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday.
City who are currently in 13th position of the Premier Soccer League will go into the match with heavy hearts following their 0-1 defeat by Mpumalanga Aces at Mbombela Stadium last Saturday.
In their last seven matches they have only managed victories against Platinum Stars and Maritzburg United.
With the season already reaching its halfway march, Club Spokesperson Tumelo Makgoara is confident that they will walk away with maximum points in all matches. “It is every team’s goal to win all the matches of the league and we are no different. It is not going to be easy but we are gunning for maximum points in every match. Super Sport United eliminated us in the Telkom Knockout Cup and it is time for revenge,” Makgoara said.
He attributed the team’s bad performance to the unavability of their new coach, Julio Leal who is unable to sit on the bench at matches because his is still awaiting his work permit.
“The work permit issue is a problem because he is unable to give instructions from the bench. We are still waiting for the authorities to issue his work permit. They said he would get it before the end of this month,” Makgoara said.
