Limpopo Blue Bulls Rugby Union (LBBRU) released a two-day, preliminary programme for the weekend of 13 February when the Vodacom Blue Bulls and Emirates Lions will engage in a Super 16 Rugby warm-up match at Peter Mokaba Stadium.
Both teams are expected to arrive on Friday morning after which they will proceed to several schools in the city where learners will have the opportunity to meet their rugby heroes. Players of both teams will also be available to engage in mall activities where fans will be able to have their rugby balls, shirts or other items signed. Schools to be visited and time schedules for schools and malls are still to be confirmed.
A gala dinner will be hosted at Protea Hotel Ranch Resort on Friday evening. Tables are still available at R6 000 per table for nine persons joined by a Blue Bulls or Lions player.
Among the Bull players to attend the dinner are Adriaan Strauss, Lizo Gqoboka, Trevor Nyakane, Lappies Labuschagne, Arno Botha, Rudy Paige, Handré Pollard, Jesse Kriel, Warrick Gelant and Jamba Ulengo.
Lion players expected to attend are Warren Whiteley, Jaco Kriel, Howard Mnisi, Courtnall Skosan, Julan Redeling­huys, Ruan Dreyer, Franco Mostert, Elton Jantjies, Lionel Mapoe, Robbie Coetzee and Coach Johan Ackerman.
The gates at the Peter Mokaba Stadium open Saturday at 11:00 with the first match between Louis Tri­chardt Rugby Club and Musina Rugby Club to start at 12:00. Loskop Rugby Club from Groblersdal will take on the team from Potgietersrug Rugby Club 13:25 while big rugby action is expected at 15:00 when BB Truck Noordelikes and Tshwane University of Technology will clash in an Assupol Series match.
The main game between the Blue Bulls and Lions are expected to start at 17:15 and spectators will also be entertained by the Blue Bull Babes.
Tickets cost R100 for the main pavilion and R80 for the Eastern pavilion. A seat behind the score posts are R60 and learners pay only R30. Parking tickets are available at R20.
Schools who book 50 tickets or more behind the score posts will get R10 back per ticket. Individual learners will still pay R30. A beer tent and food stalls will be available. Tickets are also available at www.computicket.com and at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.
