Polokwane City Football Club striker Thobani Mcwango hopes to be part of the Bafana Bafana team that will play Cameroon in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier match scheduled for Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on 29 March.
Bafana Bafana head coach Ephraim Shakes Mashaba is expected to announce the squad for that match in the second week of March.
The currently in-form Mcwango started playing professional football at Baroka Football Club and is one of the top goal scorers in the Premier Soccer League (PSL) with eight goals after 19 matches.
The 28-year-old made headlines in January when he scored all the goals in one match to give his team 4-1 victory over Super Sport United. He also scored a superb goal in their 1-2 defeat against Golden Arrows last Saturday.
“It will definitely be a dream come true for me if I am selected. I have never represented my country in any format, but like I said before it is every player’s dream to play for the national team. For me to realise that dream I have to work harder. I am happy with my performance in the team thus far. I am also glad to contribute to the team and pray that I remain injury free so that I can achieve all the goals I have set for myself this season,” Mcwango said.
