Time running out for Ebenezer Mile

In less than a month hundreds of enthusiastic swimmers will once again take on the annual open water Ebenezer Mile scheduled to take place at the Ebenezer Dam on 19 March.
This year celebrates the 14th anniversary and promises yet again to cater for serious swimmers as well as those hoping for a fun day out.
The event was initiated and has been organised by Rotary Haenertsburg since 1992 and has, over the years become known not only for the challenge and the invigorating environment of the Ebenezer Dam but also the festive atmosphere that prevails among all who come to support the participants and enjoy the variety of stalls and beer tent.
The mile (1 600 m) is contested in three categories; for men and women 14 to 30 years (open class), 13 years and younger and 31 years and older. Men and women of all ages can enter for the 3 000 m and the 500 m fun swim.
Entries are already open and entry fees for the mile and 3 000 m are R115 if done online and R130 on the day of the event. The 500 m fun swim will cost competitors R80 whether done online or on the day of the event. There is also a family discount for three or more family members at R105 per person for online entries only.
Prizes will be given to the winners of the different age and gender groups, medals for all finishers and certificates for completing the 500 m fun swim in which children of all ages can take part.
