Polokwane City Football Club takes on All Stars

The Management of Polokwane City Football Club is adamant that the club will do well against African All Stars whom they will host in a last 32 match of the Nedbank Cup at old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday.
African All Stars are currently campaigning in the ABC Motsepe League, the third tier of South African Football. They missed out on promotion to the National First Division (NFD) last season after losing to Mthatha Bucks in the group stages of the NFD playoffs.
Polokwane City FC, currently fighting for a better position in the Premier Soccer League (PSL), has never proceeded further in the competition. Last season they were knocked out in the last 32 stage by Super Sport United who beat them 4-1.
Polokwane City FC Club Spokesperson, Tumelo Makgoara said they will not underrate the other team but approach the match just like any other in the PSL. “The team is totally unknown to us. We have never played them before. We will not underestimate them but play like professionals on the day. In the Nedbank Cup the so called small teams have a way of surprising bigger teams and we don’t want to be their victim,” Makgoara said.
He also mentioned that the preparations for match started last week and the team has been training twice a day as part of the preparations. “The preparations have been going well. The team is ready, we want to win this match so that we can proceed to the last 16 and maybe be at the final of the competition,” Makgoara said.
