Limsa confident of good showing at nationals

The Management of Limpopo Schools Athletics (Limsa) is confident that the athletes they have selected to represent the province at the Primary and Secondary Schools Track and Field Athletics Championship will do the province proud.
The athletes were selected at the Provincial Athletics School Sport Championships for primary and secondary schools at the old Peter Mokaba Stadium last Tuesday and Wednesday.
Limsa Secretary Peter Maluleke informed that 180 athletes from various primary schools in the province made it to the team and 83 from secondary schools.
“We are happy with the teams we have selected and we hope that they will do better than previous teams,” Maluleke said.
Last year the primary school team brought home five gold, eight silver and seven bronze medals while the secondary school team accumulated four gold medals, five silver and seven bronze.
“We want to do better than last year and bring more medals home. We have a strong team that can do well at any championships and we are confident that they will bring more medals,” Maluleke said.
The province’s primary school team will already compete this weekend in Port Elizabeth and the championships for secondary schools will be held in Bloemfontein on 18 and 19 March.
