Players of Polokwane City Football Club have undertaken to do better in the upcoming 2016/17 Premier Soccer League (PSL) season which will commence this weekend.
Since being promoted to the elite league from the National Football Division in 2012, the team has never finished the league in a top 8 position and found itself in the relegation zone each time.
Last season top goal scorer, Thobani Mcwango said they were tired of fighting for relegation every season while other teams are fighting for top honours. “We are a good team with quality players and we want to improve and give better performances in every match. We have made a commitment as players that this season we must win all matches. We have been in this league for three years now and we know the strengths and weaknesses of every team. It is time for us to perform.”
He said their PSL match against Bidvest Wits on 13 September at Peter Mokaba Stadium will be a test of character. “They are a good side with a good coach and it is very difficult to get the desired points against them, but those are the matches we should win.
“Last season they beat us 1-0 after we contained them for almost 80 minutes only to succumb in the last minutes. We showed that we have what it takes against the big teams, we just have to work on those relapses,” Mcwango said.
Former Mamelodi Sundows striker, Rodney Ramagalela who joined the team in May said he was impressed with the team and looking forward to do well against Wits. “We are ready for the new season. We have prepared well and we are looking forward to play against them,” Ramagalela said.
