Online entries for the exciting Two Countries Marathon presented by the Soutpansberg Athletics Club next month are open to athletes wishing to participate in the 42,2 km race.
The annual race not only provides some stunning scenery next to the Limpopo River and neighbouring country of Zimbabwe but also big prize money. Open category male and female winners can look forward to R7 000 in the marathon and R3 000 for winners of the 21,1 km. The 42,2 km race will take athletes on a journey through Zimbabwe over a distance of about 10 km.
Pre-entry forms for the 42,2 km only plus a copy of the runner’s passport can be forwarded to soutpansberg@yahoo.com not later than 11 September. Line entries open at 05:00 at the starting venue of Hoërskool Eric Louw in Musina on the day of the race on 24 September. The starter’s gun for the marathon will go off at 06:00 and 07:00 for the 21,1 km respectively. The 5 km and 10 km race will start at 07:30.
Entry for the 42,2 km will cost R120, 21,1 km R80, 10 km R50 and 5 km R30.
Athletics South Africa (ASA) licence is required for all athletes in the marathon, half marathon and 10 km races and children under 12 years must be accompanied by an adult. Temporary licenses are available at R25.
ASA rules will apply to all participants. ASA licenses must be worn in order to receive a medal. Age category signs must be worn to qualify for category prizes. Marshalls and traffic officials must be obeyed at all times and cut-off time for all races will be 13:00.
